Coordinator's affinity to the project:
Organizer of the proposal and will be representing Hacker Public Radio
Why does it fit FOSDEM
We are a joint proposal of (currently) 28 diverse podcasts all of which promote free culture, either through the topics they discuss and/or the license they have chosen. As podcasts allow access to niche topics that would never normally be available on traditional media, we feel that our selection of shows will be of interest to FOSDEM developers and visitors alike.
We will point developers to avenues where they can promote their project, seek out further community support, and identify opportunities for collaboration. For new contributors we will highlight educational shows that will get them up to speed on the community, and teach them new skills. We will also offer a range of news outlets where everyone can keep up to date on the latest news in the community, as well as exposing them to voices from across the world. In the field of Culture, Art and Entertainment we will present challenging opinions, outstanding audio books, modern audio dramas, in addition to a vast selection of Music.
We currently have a commitment from four different shows to attend physically, but we will be distributing promotional leaflets, stickers etc, from all the shows. In addition we intend to record interviews with the passing crowd, and give advice to anyone who wishes to get into podcasting themselves.
This side of the community has not yet been represented at FOSDEM, and by accepting the proposal you will be acknowledging the hard work and dedication put in by these community members over the years.
